Shiretokoiozan Volcano Molten Sulfur Eruption BLOG

Shiretokoiozan volcano is located in the middle part of the Shiretoko Peninsula and it is well known for its huge amount of molten sulfur eruption. In the historical document the volcano erupted four times. At the last eruption in 1936, 116,523 tons of molten sulfur was expelled out of the mountain side crater, which is called "Crater I" and flowed into the Kamuiwakka Creek located nearby.

I have researched this volcano since 2005 while I implemented geological, DC resistivity, Self Potential Surveys and volcanic gas and hot spring water analysis. I will show you how my researching is going on in this blog.

知床硫黄山は知床半島のほぼ中央に位置し、大量の溶融硫黄を噴出することで知られている。過去に4回噴火した記録があるが、特に1936年に起こった最後の噴火では116,523トンもの溶融硫黄が山腹の1号火口から噴出し、近くのカムイワッカ川に流れ込んだ。
私は2005年から電気探査、自然電位、地質調査、温泉、火山ガスの分析などの調査を行ってきた。このブログでは、さらなる知床硫黄山の調査のようすを書いていきたいと思う。
